Baseball Recap: Bryan County Comes Up Short

Bryan County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Screven County Gamecocks. The Redskins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gamecocks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Gunner Ennis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Bryan County's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Cooper Ennis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bryan County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Screven County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Screven County will square off against Statesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bryan County will be paying especially close attention to the Gamecocks' contest: after the Gamecocks faces off against the Blue Devils, they'll take on Bryan County again at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
