Softball Recap: Russellville Drops Season-High Score on Pilot Grove

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Russellville). They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over the Pilot Grove Tigers on Thursday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Karsyn Duncan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Audra Whittle was a standout: she fired off four runs, three doubles, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Strobel, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Russellville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Russellville's record now sits at 14-8. As for Pilot Grove, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Russellville will welcome Jamestown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pilot Grove, they will head out on the road to square off against Slater at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
