Basketball Recap: Philipsburg-Osceola Takes a Loss

Philipsburg-Osceola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 63-29 loss at the hands of the Forest Hills Rangers. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 654th, while the Rangers are ranked 171st).

Defeat or not, Philipsburg-Osceola got some senior leadership from Lily Warlow and Maddy Malinich. Warlow posted ten points and five rebounds, while Malinich had 11 points.

Forest Hills' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eva Myers, who went 9 of 11 en route to 18 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Gdula, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 11 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.

Philipsburg-Osceola's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Forest Hills, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.

Philipsburg-Osceola didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-22 defeat against Bishop Guilfoyle on the 3rd. As for Forest Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-34 win against Somerset on the 3rd.
