Aquinas Academy picks up third straight win at home

Recap: Aquinas Academy Crusaders vs. Portersville Christian

The Aquinas Academy Crusaders put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 56-46 win over Portersville Christian. For Aquinas Academy, this counts as revenge for the 51-23 loss Portersville Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2020.

Violet Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. The matchup was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Fisher, who scored 16 points.

Aquinas Academy pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Portersville Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas Academy will challenge Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Rochester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Aquinas Academy is ranked tenth). Portersville Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trinity Christian at 4:15 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
