Preview: Eagle Rock Eagles vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Eagle Rock has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Eagle Rock's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Cleveland's offense will have their work cut out for Cleveland.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Eagle Rock, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-29 loss to Verdugo Hills. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Eagle Rock came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Verdugo Hills is ranked 635th).
Meanwhile, Cleveland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past West Ranch with points to spare, taking the game 54-37.
Valerie Anzora continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Anzora is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Baylee Miles, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Eagle Rock's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Cleveland, their win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.
Eagle Rock came up short against Cleveland in their previous meeting back in February, falling 48-42. Can Eagle Rock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
