Softball Recap: Highlands Ranch Comes Up Short

Highlands Ranch extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 1-14. They came up short against the Rock Canyon Jaguars, falling 24-4. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 8-3 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Highlands Ranch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Gammel, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Rock Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. That looming 24-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Rock Canyon's side, Cadence Laferriere made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Laferriere has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.

Highlands Ranch didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-4 loss against Regis Jesuit on the 24th. As for Rock Canyon, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-4 defeat against Legend on the 24th.
