Soccer Recap: Mainland Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Mainland Buccaneers didn't have quite enough to beat the Rockledge Raiders and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Raiders are ranked 174th).

Mainland's goal came courtesy of Lauren Abrahams, who's now up to two this season.

Mainland has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Rockledge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4-1.

Mainland didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against University on the 9th. As for Rockledge, they will venture away from home to face off against Merritt Island at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rockledge is facing Merritt Island at the right time seeing as Merritt Island is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
