Football Recap: Newton Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Newton fell victim to Salina Central and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Mustangs, falling 42-0. While losing is never fun, the Railroaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Mustangs are ranked 40th).

Cooper Reves continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Salina Central, rushing for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also picking up 83 receiving yards and one TD. Reves is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 157 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Griffin Hall, who threw for 201 yards and two TDs.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Salina Central, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Meanwhile, Salina Central will face off against rival Andover Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Reves and Jaxson Green.
