Basketball Preview: Notre Dame Spirits vs. Gonzales Spartans
The Notre Dame Spirits will head out on the road to challenge the Gonzales Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Notre Dame scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past Marina with points to spare, taking the game 55-39.
Aveena Ducusin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Francesca Rossi, who scored 12 points.
Even though Gonzales has not done well against the Mustangs recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Thursday. Gonzales came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 48-36. The victory was just what Gonzales needed coming off of a 62-38 loss in their prior game.
Notre Dame now has a winning record of 11-10. Gonzales' record now sits at 2-5.
Notre Dame was able to grind out a solid win over the Spartans when the teams last played back in January, winning 43-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Notre Dame since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
