Basketball Recap: West Catholic Skates Past Central with Ease

West Catholic won the last time they faced Central and things went their way on Monday too. The West Catholic Burrs took their contest with ease, bagging a 58-29 victory over the Central Lancers.

West Catholic was led to victory by Nyla Coleman and Ny'La Haynesworth. Coleman posted 16 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Haynesworth scored nine points and seven steals. That's the most points Coleman has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Milan Trusty, who earned eight points and three steals.

West Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only racked up two assists.

Despite the loss, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Stevie Hall went 7 for 12 on her way to 17 points.

West Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

West Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Nazareth Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they will face off against Northeast at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Central is facing Northeast at the right time seeing as Northeast is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
