Football Recap: Alexander Central Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road + How To Watch

Alexander Central had lost four games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the McDowell Titans 30-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2021.

Alexander Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaquis Parks, who rushed for 69 yards and one TD on only six carries. Parks also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble, making eight total tackles (0.5 for loss), and defending one pass. Sawyer Chapman-Mays was in the mix as well, providing Alexander Central with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Alexander Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Alexander Central, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jeremiah Whitaker, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for McDowell, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since August 23, 2024.

Despite the loss, McDowell still got an impressive performance from Danny Charles Brown, who rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 192 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Jordan Barnett, who rushed for 70 yards and a pair of scores.
