Soccer Game Preview: Gateway vs. Drew

Gateway hasn't had much luck against Drew recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gators will head out to face off against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Gateway lost 6-1 to International on Friday. Gateway were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 4-0.

Drew had taken International down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Dragons came up short against the Jaguars, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Drew can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1142nd, while International are ranked 501st).

Gateway's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 3-7-2. As for Drew, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Gateway got the 'W' when the teams last played last Tuesday against Drew by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
