Soccer Game Preview: Lindhurst vs. Highlands

The Lindhurst Blazers will venture away from home to challenge the Highlands Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Lindhurst is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals last Thursday, they were much more limited against Golden Sierra on Friday. They came up short against the Grizzlies, falling 5-1.

Meanwhile, Highlands sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Woodland Christian last Thursday.

Nevaeh Cortez was the driving force of Highlands' attack as she scored both of Highlands' goals, bringing her season total up to 33 goals.

Highlands pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three contests. As for Lindhurst, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 13-1 and their overall record down to 16-5.

Lindhurst took their victory against Highlands when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 6-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lindhurst since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
