Baseball Recap: Murphysboro Comes Up Short

Murphysboro and Carterville squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Murphysboro had to settle for second. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.

Eli Fleming made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs.

Murphysboro's defeat dropped their record down to 6-22. As for Carterville, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-9.

As of now, neither Murphysboro nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
