Volleyball Recap: Marian Extends Winning Streak to Four

Marian had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Elkhorn South Storm by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Saturday.

While Marian might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Elkhorn South scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Marian's offense was headlined by Fallyn O'Connell and Taylor McLeay, who picked up 13 kills apiece. They got some help from Addy Janke and her 28 assists. Finally, Erin Cramer kept Marian's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Despite the defeat, Elkhorn South saw an underclassman step up: freshman Finley Tate had 32 digs and five assists. Tate is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Marian's victory bumped their record up to 25-7. As for Elkhorn South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.

Marian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Burke on the 20th. As for Elkhorn South, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Papillion-LaVista South on the 16th.
