Baseball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

Washington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 0-2. They came up short against the South Cobb Eagles, falling 15-0. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

South Cobb's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For South Cobb's part, Edward Jackson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Jackson was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Jackson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Ugonna Ugoji was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Tanchez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Washington will venture away from home to square off against Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Cobb, they will welcome Lithia Springs at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday.
