Basketball Recap: Makenzie Duffee Key Part of Team Effort in Knights Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Clarita Christian, Desert Christian was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They managed a 42-37 win over the Faith Baptist Contenders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-19 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makenzie Duffee, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three blocks. Duffee has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Abigail Williams, who earned nine points along with seven boards and four steals.

Faith Baptist lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jean Borchardt, who had nine points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Faith Baptist is 2-1 when Borchardt posts five or more steals, but 9-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bekah Holland, who scored eight points along with six boards and five steals.

Desert Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Faith Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Desert Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-38 defeat against Trinity Classical Academy on the 4th. As for Faith Baptist, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-29 victory against Palmdale Academy Charter School on the 4th.
