Basketball Game Preview: Rutherford Rams vs. Bay Tornadoes

Rutherford and Bay are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Rutherford Rams will take on the Bay Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rutherford has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 19.

Last Tuesday, Rutherford came up short against Mosley and fell 37-29. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Dolphins are ranked 173rd).

Meanwhile, Bay beat Walton 43-35 on Tuesday.

Bay's win came from a few key players Rutherford will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Maddox Memmen, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Tre'Vince Walker, who posted 13 points.

Bay's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-8. As for Rutherford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Rutherford came up short against Bay when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 71-67. Can Rutherford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
