Baseball Game Preview: Ridgeland Panthers vs. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors

Ridgeland hasn't had much luck against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Ridgeland Panthers will take on the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Ridgeland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Ridgeland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Murray County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Ridgeland's way against Murray County on Tuesday as Ridgeland made off with a 19-8 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the match before.

Ronnie Franklin was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Koltin Webb, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Ridgeland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe came up short against Ooltewah on Tuesday, falling 12-4. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Ridgeland, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Ridgeland beat Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 3-0 in their previous meeting last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgeland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
