Basketball Recap: Los Altos Takes a Loss

Los Altos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Menlo School Knights, falling 57-36. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while the Knights are ranked 65th).

Despite the loss, Los Altos still got an impressive performance from Ella McFarlane, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. Those 25 points gave McFarlane a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Barton, who posted eight points.

Menlo School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karen Xin out in front who went 8 of 13 on her way to 21 points along with five assists and five boards. Ruiqi Liu was another key player, going 9 of 16 on her way to 21 points.

Los Altos' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Menlo School, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Los Altos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-39 loss against Moreau Catholic on the 13th. Menlo School has also already played their next contest, a 53-45 win against Branham on the 11th.
