Football Recap: Polk County Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Polk County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 22-12 to the McMinn Central Chargers on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Cecil Burns threw for 58 yards on five of 13 attempts. Gabe Adams was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polk County is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Marion County at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McMinn Central, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eagleton College & Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
