San Gabriel Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 18, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 50-23 defeat at the hands of Takoma Academy. While losing is never fun, San Gabriel Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 734th in California, while Takoma Academy is ranked 130th in Maryland).
Meanwhile, Avalon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 55-15 win over Magnolia Science Academy. The win was familiar territory for Avalon who now have four in a row.
San Gabriel Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Avalon, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
