It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Sturgeon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Northeast Bearcats 6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-6 back in April.

Carson Gehrig made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gehrig was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Devin Smith was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Sam Truesdell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Sturgeon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

As of now, neither Sturgeon nor the Bearcats have any future games scheduled.
