Baseball Recap: West Chicago Gets the Win

West Chicago came out on top against Ridgewood on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Rebels. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Kaedin Zentner, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bobby Elizondo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

West Chicago is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-13-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Ridgewood, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-11 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Chicago beat the Rebels by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday.
