Softball Game Recap: Centennial Broncos vs. Cass Wildcats

Centennial extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 7-12. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 6-5 to the Cass Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Broncos of the 11-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Lynly Leif made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Paityn Scheele, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double.

As for Cass, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-14 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since October 3, 2024.

On Cass' side, they let Emma Rainey and Brooke Sorensen run wild. Rainey got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Sorensen went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits Sorensen has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sailor Manske, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Centennial has already played their next game, a 10-8 victory against Polk County on the 23rd. As for Cass, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 9-1 loss against Nebraska City on the 22nd.
