Baseball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers

The Southern Wells Raiders will head out to challenge the Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Wells has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 2nd.

Southern Wells came up short against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers on Monday, falling 20-3.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne Canterbury got the win against Fort Wayne Crusaders on Saturday by a conclusive 8-2. Considering the Cavaliers have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Landgraf made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fort Wayne Canterbury is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. Landgraf was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Hayes, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in June of 2025. Another player making a difference was Aaden Nicely, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Fort Wayne Canterbury was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Fort Wayne Canterbury is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Southern Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
