Softball Preview: Lowndes Vikings vs. Peach County Trojans
The Lowndes Vikings will head out to square off against the Peach County Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Lowndes fell victim to Lee County and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Peach County got themselves on the board against Rutland on Tuesday, but Rutland never followed suit. They blew past the Hurricanes 20-0. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Anna Grace Wilcox was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. That hit marked the first that she has got this season.
In other batting news, Peach County let Alyssa Crozier and Lucy Warnock run wild. Crozier got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Warnock went a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI and one double. Lowndes now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Peach County, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
