Soccer Game Preview: Patterson vs. Central Catholic

The Patterson Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Central Catholic Raiders at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Patterson's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Patterson took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let East Union onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Tigers' winning goal came courtesy of Sonya Gregoris.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Central Catholic's offense. They came up short against Sierra on Wednesday, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 147th).

Patterson's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4-2 and their overall record up to 4-6-4. As for Central Catholic, they dropped their record down to 4-9-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
