Softball Recap: Florence Wins Going Away Against Mitchell

After only two runs in their last matchup, Florence made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mitchell on Tuesday. The Huskies put the hurt on the Marauders with a sharp 16-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Addison Dalton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Lilly Roe was excellent, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Makala Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Florence now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Mitchell, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Florence will head out to face off against Bennett at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Mitchell, they will take on Sand Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Marauders will need to watch out since the Scorpions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
