Basketball Recap: El Rancho Takes a Loss

El Rancho suffered their biggest loss since January 24th on Tuesday. They were dealt a 65-31 defeat at the hands of the Arcadia Apaches. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Dons' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Samantha Gutierrez was El Rancho's leading scorer, having posted 15 points.

Arcadia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nikki Tran, who shot 56% from the field en route to 12 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Casey Craw, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for El Rancho and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 3-2 Poly (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 80% over those games). As for Arcadia, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

El Rancho has already played their next matchup, a 50-48 loss against Upland on the 28th. As for Arcadia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-37 victory against Poly on the 26th.
