Football Recap: Shawnee Mission West Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Shawnee Mission West had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it eight. They were beaten by the Olathe Northwest Ravens 43-7. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Ravens are ranked 27th).

As for Olathe Northwest, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1. The result was nothing new for the Ravens, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Olathe Northwest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Hefley, who rushed for 115 yards and one TD on only six carries. Hefley's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Another back making a difference was Jaelen Douglas, who rushed for 94 yards and one score on only nine carries.

Shawnee Mission West wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 41-22 loss against Olathe East on the 16th. As for Olathe Northwest, they will welcome Mill Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ravens will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
