Football Recap: Shawnee Mission West Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Shawnee Mission West extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They had to suffer through a 43-7 loss at the hands of the Olathe Northwest Ravens. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Ravens are ranked 29th).

As for Olathe Northwest, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Ravens, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Olathe Northwest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Hefley led the charge by rushing for 115 yards and one score on only six carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 78 yards. Jaelen Douglas helped out on the ground, rushing for 94 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Shawnee Mission West has already played their next matchup (against Olathe East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Olathe Northwest, they will welcome Mill Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ravens will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
