Soccer Recap: Gonzales Comes Up Short

After flying high against Santa Catalina last Friday, Gonzales came back down to earth. The Gonzales Spartans fell just short of the Pacific Grove Breakers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Breakers earlier this season, when they won 9-3.

Janelle Garcia wasn't going to let Pacific Grove walk away unscathed as she scored both of Gonzales' goals, bringing her season total up to 12 goals.

Gonzales' defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-2. As for Pacific Grove, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5-1.

Gonzales will host Seaside at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Gonzales is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season. As for Pacific Grove, they will head out on the road to challenge Stevenson at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stevenson's last six matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
