Basketball Recap: Academy of Careers & Exploration Takes a Loss

Academy of Careers & Exploration was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 66-2 loss at the hands of the Excelsior Charter Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagle this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-2 back in December of 2024.

Excelsior Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joaneliz Miranda led the charge by going 12 for 22 on her way to 24 points and five rebounds. That's the most boards Miranda has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jazynda Juneau, who dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals.

Academy of Careers & Exploration's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Excelsior Charter, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Academy of Careers & Exploration will challenge Lucerne Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lucerne Valley's defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so Academy of Careers & Exploration's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Excelsior Charter, they will square off against Victor Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
