Basketball Recap: Waynesburg Central Takes a Loss

Waynesburg Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Albert Gallatin Colonials and fell 57-26. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colonials apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Mya Smith and Peyton Cowell certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Smith posted nine points and five rebounds, while Cowell earned 12 points and eight boards. Cowell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Waynesburg Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Albert Gallatin, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Waynesburg Central has already played their next game, a 44-26 win against Charleroi on the 6th. Albert Gallatin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
