Basketball Recap: Keniyah Banks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rio Vista over Bear Creek

Rio Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bear Creek Bruins.

Rio Vista's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keniyah Banks, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 23 boards. Banks has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samiah Holley, who posted nine points along with eight steals and seven boards.

It was another big night for Siannah Rios, who had 19 points for Bear Creek. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rios has scored at least a third of the Bruins' points. Another player making a difference was Dj Jackson, who scored 11 points.

Rio Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bear Creek, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Rio Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-36 win against Johnson on the 5th. As for Bear Creek, they have also already played their next game, a 53-37 victory against Tokay on the 5th.
