Basketball Recap: Elk Grove Comes Up Short

Elk Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 60-10 defeat at the hands of the Sheldon Huskies. The match marked the Thundering Herd's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sheldon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zoe McAfee, who posted five points along with eight assists and five boards. McAfee has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Saniah Wiley, who scored eight points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Elk Grove's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Sheldon, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-8.

Elk Grove has already played their next contest (against Laguna Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sheldon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-76 defeat against Monterey Trail on the 29th.
