Basketball Recap: Upper Darby Royals vs. Conestoga Pioneers
The Upper Darby Royals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Conestoga at home and fell 56-16. Upper Darby has struggled against the Pioneers recently, as their game on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Conestoga found their leader in underclassman Ryann Jennings, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marisa Francione, who scored nine points.
Upper Darby has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Conestoga, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upper Darby will take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Royals in Pennsylvania (the Raiders are ranked 129th, while the Royals are ranked 393rd). As for Conestoga, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garnet Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
