Baseball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Comes Up Short

Washington-Wilkes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Thomson Bulldogs, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 on Saturday.

Braxton Reed made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Standard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Reed wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Washington-Wilkes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Washington-Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Thomson, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Washington-Wilkes wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-4 win against Aquinas on the 4th. As for Thomson, they have also already played their next matchup, a 17-0 victory against Laney on the 4th.
