Basketball Game Preview: United Lions vs. Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays

The United Lions will head out to take on the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

United saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell to Conemaugh Township 36-32.

Meanwhile, Conemaugh Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 48-42 to Ferndale.

United will need focus on slowing down Madison McCleester, one of several Conemaugh Valley players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 11 points. That's the most points McCleester has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Illy Darcangelo, who earned 12 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Conemaugh Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ferndale only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

United now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Conemaugh Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everything came up roses for United against Conemaugh Valley when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 49-20 victory. In that matchup, United amassed a halftime lead of 34-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
