Basketball Recap: Southlands Christian Comes Up Short

Southlands Christian lost against Western Christian on January 14th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Southlands Christian Eagles fell 27-15 to the Western Christian Fighting Lancers. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Western Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cora Burdett led the charge by putting up seven points in addition to nine steals and six boards. The dominant performance gave Burdett a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Izzy Balderrama, who posted no points along with 19 boards and six steals.

Southlands Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Western Christian, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Southlands Christian has already played their next contest (against Calvary Baptist), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Western Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Bethel Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Christian is facing Bethel Baptist at the right time seeing as Bethel Baptist is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
