Softball Recap: West Platte Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

West Platte hadn't done well against North Platte recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bluejays came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 5-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bluejays also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Sophie Grier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Maddie Cline was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

West Platte's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for North Platte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. West Platte will face off against Bishop LeBlond at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bluejays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for North Platte, they are taking a road trip to challenge South Harrison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
