Recap: Central Catholic Raiders vs. Downey Knights
The Central Catholic Raiders's and the Downey Knights's match on Tuesday was close at halftime, but the Central Catholic Raiders turned on the heat in the second half with 26 points. Everything went Central Catholic's way against Downey as Central Catholic made off with a 52-28 win. This was payback for Central Catholic, who suffered a 38-24 loss the last time these two teams met.
Central Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taryn Calderon led the charge by scoring 14 points. Allie Abbate was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zadie Carraway,, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds.
Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Downey, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Central Catholic will face off against Bret Harte at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downey, they will head out on the road to face off against Ripon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
