Softball Game Preview: Stonewall Longhorns vs. Maud Tigers

The Stonewall Longhorns will challenge the Maud Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stonewall will be strutting in after a win while Maud will be coming in after a loss.

While Stonewall's victory against Varnum wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Longhorns narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Whippets 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Whippets: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Maud was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Tupelo, falling 17-3.

Maud's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Stonewall, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Stonewall's way against Maud in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, as Stonewall made off with a 13-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
