Baseball Recap: Frankfort Triumphs

Frankfort came out on top against Zeigler-Royalton on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Redbirds walked away with a 7-3 win over the Tornadoes. This was payback for the Redbirds, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Frankfort gave Hunter Loeh the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Jase Bennett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Frankfort's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Chace Patterson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Frankfort's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Zeigler-Royalton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Frankfort has already played their next matchup, a 5-0 win against Benton on the 24th. As for Zeigler-Royalton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-2 defeat against Goreville on the 23rd.
