Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Plainview

Plainview had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They never let the Byng Pirates get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates, too.

Landree Upshaw made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamrey Martin, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Chloe Phelps, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Plainview's record is now 21-7. As for Byng, they moved to 16-9 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Byng will head out on the road to challenge Latta at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Plainview will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' contest: after the Pirates face off against the Panthers, they'll take on Plainview again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
