Basketball Recap: Alex Rivera's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Longmont over Cherokee Trail

Longmont saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 65-39 to the Cherokee Trail Cougars. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Longmont lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alex Rivera, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Valles, who scored five points.

Jordan Mitchell had an outrageously good game for Cherokee Trail as he dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards. Mitchell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Caleb Jensen was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 12 points and five assists.

Longmont now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cherokee Trail, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Longmont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-34 win against Montbello on the 10th. As for Cherokee Trail, they have also already played their next game, an 81-78 victory against Legend on the 10th.
