Basketball Recap: Conwell-Egan Catholic Eagles vs. Nazareth Academy
After a string of four wins, the Conwell-Egan Catholic Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nazareth Academy. Conwell-Egan Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Conwell-Egan Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Milewski, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Milewski is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. Mya Aizen was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Conwell-Egan Catholic now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Nazareth Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Conwell-Egan Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Archbishop Carroll presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in Pennsylvania (the Patriots are ranked 36th, while the Eagles are ranked 151st). As for Nazareth Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Monarchs at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Gwynedd Mercy Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
