Basketball Recap: Windber Falls Despite Big Games from Rylee Baer and Kaylie Gaye

Windber lost against Portage back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Windber Ramblers fell 45-37 to the Portage Mustangs. The Ramblers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kaylie Gaye and Rylee Baer certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Gaye almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Baer went 6-for-14 to rack up 12 points and four steals. Baer continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Portage can attribute much of their success to Payton Noll, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards. Cassidy Burkett was another key player, putting up two points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Windber's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Portage, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.

Windber has already played their next game, a 54-39 win against McConnellsburg on the 18th. As for Portage, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-50 loss against Bellwood-Antis on the 19th.
