Recap: Hughesville Spartans vs. Mifflinburg Wildcats
The Hughesville Spartans can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Monday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 69-15 win over Mifflinburg. The victory was nothing new for Hughesville as they're now sitting on five straight.
Hughesville was led to victory by Alli Anstadt and Maddie Smith. Anstadt scored eight points along with ten rebounds and five assists, while Smith scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Draper, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Hughesville pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mifflinburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hughesville's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Southern Columbia Area at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Southern Columbia Area comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Mifflinburg, they will be playing at home against Shamokin Area at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shamokin Area presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mifflinburg in Pennsylvania (Shamokin Area is ranked 155th, while Mifflinburg is ranked 587th).
