Basketball Recap: Cabrillo Comes Up Short

Cabrillo lost against Jordan back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cabrillo Jaguars lost 40-18 to the Jordan Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 780th, while the Panthers are ranked 344th).

Savannah Hernandez was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Diamond Toomalatai, who posted five points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Cabrillo dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Jordan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Cabrillo has already played their next game (against Compton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jordan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 36-31 victory against Troy on the 25th.
